WATERLOO - Grace Regina Dennis, 79, of 1531 Oakwood Drive, Waterloo, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Countryview of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 23, 1925, in rural Fairbank, daughter of Arista D. and Cora Metcalf Hayes. She married Dexter R. Dennis Nov. 25, 1946, at St. Johns Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Dennis graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1943.

One of her main enjoyments in life was crocheting and making afghans and doilies.

Survivors include her husband of Waterloo; four sons, Michael C. (Patricia), Daniel W. (Joanne), James N. and Jeffrey T., all of Waterloo; two daughters, Rosanne M. (John) Fratzke of Papillion, Neb., and Patricia M. Vogt of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Hayes Sr. of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Gertrude Koster of Urbandale.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Andrew Dennis on June 27, 2002; a brother, Laverne Hayes; a sister, Mary (George) Jensen; and a sister-in-law, Madeline Hayes.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace school chapel on East Fourth Street, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary by the Senior Citizens and a 7 p.m. vigil. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the school chapel Friday.

Memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace School.
