HUDSON - William P. Steimel, 78, of Hudson, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born April 22, 1927, in Waterloo, son of William J. and Esther Mathern Steimel. He married Norma L. Cavanaugh on April 19, 1949, in Blessing.

Mr. Steimel graduated from Eagle Center High School, Eagle Center, and had farmed in Black Hawk County and raised Angus cattle.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Julia (Don) Barth of Waterloo, Mary Ellen (Mark) Yusko of Cedar Falls, Paula Steimel of Hudson and Kathleen Steimel of Chicago; five grandchildren, Laura (Jason) Hoodjer, Brian (Mark) Barth, and Lisa, Elizabeth and Matthew Yusko; a great-grandson, Jared Hoodjer, with a brother arriving soon; a sister, Mary Lee Garrison of Champaign, Ill.; and other family members.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald; and a brother-in-law, Carl Garrison.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Blessing, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice or Hudson Public Library.
