Wayne E. Shaffer, 87, of Reinbeck, formerly of Hudson, died Monday, April 17, 2006, at Parkview Manor, Reinbeck.

He was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Oxford, son of Walter and Edith Roberts Shaffer. On Oct. 8, 1950, he married Doris Klein at the Methodist Church in Brooklyn,

Mr. Shaffer was educated in Sharon Center and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed and then worked for Eldon Miller in Iowa City as a semi driver, and later at Farm Services in Hudson.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Deborah (Jerry) McIntyre of Reinbeck and Deanne (Randall) Lindaman of Evansdale; two sons, Dwayne (Debra) of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Dennis (Nyola) of Reinbeck; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Alverta Williams of Tiffin; three brothers, Walter (Betty) of Iowa City, Robert (Ruth) of Cedar Rapids and Delmar (Sally) of Kalona; a brother-in-law, Russell Colony of Oxford; and two sisters-in-law, Donna McConaughy of Lisbon and Grace Shaffer of Grand Island, Neb.

Preceded in death by a sister, Veva Colony; two brothers, Paul and Mervin; and a sister-in-law, Doris Shaffer.

Memorial services 10:30 a.m. Thursday at French Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery. Full military rites will be provided by Reinbeck American Legion Post 242.

A memorial fund has been established.
