CEDAR FALLS - Joe C. Koeppel, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital emergency room.

He was born Dec. 4, 1917, in Hazleton, son of Joseph M. and Mary E. Toale Koeppel. He married Bernice W. Sproull on Aug. 12, 1941, in Independence. She died July 3, 1995. He then married DeVee K. Kehe on Sept. 21, 1996, in Minnesota.

Mr. Koeppel served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then for 35 years had owned and operated the Waterloo Fish Market, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James J. (Kathy) of Waterloo; a daughter, Ann C. Koeppel of Iowa Falls; two granddaughters and a great-grandson; a sister, Alice M. Mishler of Waterloo; a stepson, Richard Roth of Lakewood, Minn.; and a stepdaughter, Roberta (Rich) Jones Roth of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, Donald and Dale.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Western Home communities chapel, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the Western Home.

Memorials may be directed to the Western Home or St. Edwards Catholic Church, Waterloo.
