DUNKERTON - Lora Mager, 58, of Elkader, formerly of Dunkerton, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.

She was born June 27, 1955, in Waterloo, daughter of Leland and Edie Nye Smith. She married Wayne Mager on Sept. 22, 1973, at First Baptist Church, Dunkerton.

Lora graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1973. In later years, she attended college at NICC in Calmar, earning her degree in data processing. She worked at the Area Education Agency (AEA 1) in Elkader, as a secretary.

Survived by her husband; a son, Aaron (Heather) of Adel; and a daughter, Jody (Curt) Dvorak of Dexter; three grandchildren, Caden and Camryn Mager and Mila Dvorak; three sisters, Rebecca (Alen) Nagel and Lela (Scott) Pettit, both of Waterloo, and Sheryl Wallace of Dunkerton; three brothers, Douglas (Candy) Smith of Broomfield, Colo., Calvin (Denise) Smith of Dunkerton and Larry (Christine) Smith of Anchorage, Alaska; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, Morris Adams.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview-Lester Cemetery, both in Dunkerton. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Lora was a “family” person, she enjoyed spending time with them and she especially loved her grandchildren. She liked walking, riding her bike, traveling, hiking and camping. Lora was a devoted member of her church, Grace Evangelical Free Church, Elkader.
