WATERLOO - Norma Joyce Jensen, 89, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Kindred Hospital, St. Petersburg.

She was born April 10, 1925, in Sioux Rapids. She married Harlan P. Jensen in 1952.

She graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in home economics. She was a teacher by profession while also participating in League of Women Voters and supported Title 9. She assisted families in home management and the Head Start program as well as leading both Brownies and Girl Scouts troops. She along with her husband parented several foster children. She also was a lifetime Lutheran.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Linda Helm and Sheri Jensen; a son, Jay; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, St. Petersburg, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Norma was full of life, smiles and always thinking of others. She touched the lives of so many.
