WATERLOO - William "Bill" Pape, 86, of 425 Allen St., Apt 316, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center following a heart attack.

He was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Dubuque, son of Earl and Margaret Walters Pape. He married Marilyn Broshar on July 24, 1949, in Waterloo.

Mr. Pape worked for 36 years for the Iowa DOT, retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve (Peg) and Michael, both of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Sarah (Dennis) Gilroy of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; and a brother, Bert.

Preceded in death by a brother, Howard; and a sister, Bonnie Wirzbach.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday at Waterloo First United Methodist Church, preceded by family burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with military flag presentation by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa Department for the Blind or Waterloo First United Methodist Church.
