After more than two years of battling with that dreaded disease, consumption, Mrs. O. H. Palmer answered to the call of the last messenger on Monday, Dec. 27, [1897] The last few months had been full of suffering and growing weakness borne with the utmost patience.

Though kind hands were ever ready to minister to all her needs, she was never exacting but always thinking of the comfort of those wno attended her.

Lydia Howe was born in Mt. Forest, in Canada, Jan. 22, 1862. She was one of nine children, all the rest of whom are living. When four years old her parents removed to Iowa. She was
married to O. H. Palmer, May, 7, 1882.

She was the mother of four children, three of whom are yet living.

For some time she had been expecting- death, she often talked with her family about dying, and endeavored to prepare her boys for her departure. A faithful wife, a loving mother and a patient sufferer, she has left behind her a precious memory.

The funeral services were conducted from the United Brethern Church north of Cedar Falls, by the pastor, Rev. Hirsch.
