JESUP - Ralph T. Kraus, 85, of Jesup died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a short illness.

He was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Waterloo, son of Nicholas Kraus and Susan Phillips Kraus. He married Margaret Susan Kremer on June 28, 1941, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup.

Mr. Kraus and his wife farmed near Jesup until retirement in 1983.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Eugene (Rachel) of Davenport, James (Mona) of Rock Island, Ill., Duane (Julie) of Jesup and Ralph Jr. (Karla) of Waterloo; three daughters, Janet Sivertson of Keosauqua, Joyce Marie (Robert) Mellish of New York City, N.Y., and Marlene Hegg of Bettendorf; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Slyvester.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation after 2 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Camp Courageous of Iowa in Monticello.
