HUDSON - Kathleen Watters, 84, of Parkview Manor, Reinbeck, formerly of Hudson, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center of heart failure.

She was born Oct. 15, 1921, in East Brady, Pa., daughter of Harry and Mary Mortimer Lehner. She married Elvin Watters May 24, 1944, in Oil City, Pa.

She attended business school in Pennsylvania and was a clerk at the Black Hawk County Assessor's Office, retiring in 1983. Prior to that she worked for the U.S. Census Office and was a clerk at the Pentagon in the War Department from 1942-1944 and for the Navy Department in Norfolk, Va., from 1944 to 1945.

Mrs. Watters was past president of the Black Hawk County American Legion Auxiliary and Hudson American Legion Post 559 Auxiliary.

Survived by her husband; three daughters, Sharon (Douglas) Coonrad of Hudson, Barbara (James) Gooder of Radnor, Ohio, and Carol Jean (Galen) Zimple of Traer; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Gene Lehner; a sister, Geraldine Oddo; and a brother in infancy.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Hudson, with burial in the Hudson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Hudson United Methodist Church, Exceptional Persons Inc. or Parkview Manor.
