WATERLOO - Glenn V. Whitney, 91, of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the home of natural causes.

He was born June 28, 1913, in Dexter, son of Ralph and Birdie Bettinger Whitney.

He graduated from New Hartford High School in 1930 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Whitney worked as a machine operator at John Deere Tractor Works for 32 years, retiring in 1974.

He attended First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo for 20 years and was a member of Waterloo Aerie No. 764 Fraternal Order of Eagles for 45 years.

Survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Don) Christensen of New Hartford; two grandsons, Darin (Sally) Schueler of Waterloo and Michael Schueler of Guttenberg; three stepgrandchildren, Maggie (Kamal) Mnayer, Melissa (Kevin) Zingg and Mory (Kathy) Christensen; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys, in 1979; a longtime companion, Lavonne Skillen; a brother, Harry; and two sisters, Hazel Jorgensen and Gertrude Parks.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
