CEDAR FALLS - Mary Elizabeth "Ba-Ga" Carter, 80, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Grundy Center and Ottumwa, died Sunday, April 27, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Ottumwa, daughter of Herbert and Cecyle LaRue Morgan. She married Keith E. Carter in 1962, and they later divorced.

Mary went to Ottumwa High School. She worked different jobs throughout her married life. For a period of time, she was a certified nurses aide at the Grundy Hospital in Grundy Center.

Survived by two daughters, Ruth (Doug) VanGelder of Cedar Falls and Karen (Stanley) Blom of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; two sons, Mark (Joleen) of Hiawatha, Kan., and Billy (Ann) of Pace, Fla.; grandchildren, Jom (Stephanie) VanGelder, Seth (Abby) VanGelder, Beau (Kelley) VanGelder, Tracey Carter, Grant (Holly) Carter, Kaleigh (Darren) Lamme, Jessica Carter, Stanley (Danielle) Blom Jr., Nicole (Trent) Follmer, Nick Carter and Casey Carter; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, David (Vicki) Morgan; a sister, Nancy (Robert) Tuck; two brothers-in-law, Gordon Schauer and Benjamin Johnson; a sister-in-law, Sandy Morgan; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Marian Schauer; a brother, Herb Morgan; a sister, Shirley Johnson; and a nephew, Michael Tuck.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home, Ottumwa, with burial in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice, 6915 Chancellor Drive, Suite A, Cedar Falls 50613; Cedar Falls Health Care Center, 1728 W. Eighth St., Cedar Falls 50513 or charity of donor’s choice.

Mary loved to have visits from family and friend,s especially her great-grandchildren Olive, Veda and Cael after moving to Cedar Falls.
