End Came a Few Minutes Past 12:10 O'clock Today.
Mrs. Lucinda C. Dickey died at 12:10 o'clock today at her home, 143 Argyle Street, after long and patient suffering. The immediate cause of her death was abscess OF the liver, but the grief and shock of the tragic death of her husband a little over a year ago had much to do with bringing on the fatal illness which dates back to July of last year.
Lucinda Catherine Rhodes was born at Erie, Pa., forty-two years ago last November. She came to Blackhawk County with her parents in 1868, settling in Bennington Township. She has resided here continuously since. Nov. 4, 1870, she became the wife of W. A. Dickey, whose sad death occurred Feb. 19, 1899, through the breaking of an elevator in the Rath Packing Co.'s building.
Four children: Reuben, May, Lou and Eva, survive, all living at home, and the father and mother of the deceased, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Rhodes.
Mrs. Dickey led a consistent Christian life, was a member of Grace M. E. Church, and of the Degree of Honor, being financial secretary of the order until failing health required her to resign.
She was loved by all who knew her, and the hearts of many friends are saddened today by the news of her death. The family, so full of sorrow, have the sympathy of all.
The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at Grace church, Rev. T. M. Evans officiating.
