WATERLOO - Donald Lester Irey, 84, of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Ravenwood Nursing Home.

He was born May 21, 1929, in Bottineau County, N.D., son of Frank and Elsie Ladd Irey. He married Elaine Greenfield on June 2, 1966, in Minot, N.D.

Donald served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Joan (Randy) Bailey of Minot; two sons, Al (Renee) of Ogden and Gil (Kris) of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Shawn (Ashley) Bailey, Nicole Robinson, Brandon (Alisha) Bailey, Jamee (Derek) Bohlen and Jake (Shannyn) Irey; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Leo, David and Tom Irey and Leona Kuhn.

Preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; a brother; and a grandson, Mike Robinson.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, 1555 W. Ridgeway, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Donald enjoyed making folk art, restoring antique cars, building hot rods, traveling, playing golf, dancing, and putzing around.
