DUNKERTON, IOWA - Last Tuesday our dear old friend, Jacob Leddick, died. He was one of the veterans of the civil war and was wounded severely in the left side at the battle of Tupelo, Mississippi. He served in Co. B, 4th Regular Iowa Vol. Cav.
He was highly esteemed by all for his strict honesty. In politics he was a loyal democrat, and always took a great interest in all the events of daily life, either social or political. The funeral was Friday afternoon. The remains were laid to rest in Lester Center cemetery. Nearly the entire township was present at the last sad rites. Our sincere sympathy to the family. May the sod rest lightly on our dead friend.
