CEDAR FALLS - Gary Lee Mahlstedt, 59, of Mason City, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005.

He was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Cedar Falls, son of Wendell and Jeanette Carstensen Mahlstedt. He married Karen Fods.

Mr. Mahlstedt graduated from Plainfield High School, Plainfield, in 1964, then served in the U.S. Air Force for two years. He attended technical school for automotives and had worked at John Deere Implement and White Farm Implement. He was currently working as an operator for Heartland Asphalt Co.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Terry (Kris); two daughters, Toni (Ed) Trujello and Tammy (Mitch) Hello; two stepsons, Jeff (Chris) King and Mike King; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Carol Peters and Karen (Larry) Good.

Preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Robert and Scott.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with burial in Elmwood-St. Josephs Cemetery, both in Mason City. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Gary L. Mahlstedt Memorial Fund.
