CEDAR FALLS - Robert V. Cooper, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born April 29, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Sherman and Betty Shumway Cooper. He married Mary Margaret Keith on Aug. 15, 1942, in San Diego. She died Dec. 2, 1989.

Mr. Cooper was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Waterloo Savings Bank in 1983, after 33 years of service. He was a member of Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, American Legion in Reinbeck, Masonic Lodge in Waterloo, and also was a Lions Club member in Waterloo and later in Cedar Falls.

In the winter he enjoyed his time in Pharr, Texas, and took great pleasure in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Robert K. (Cathy) of Austin, Minn., Curtis S. (Terry) of Cedar Falls and Craig L. (Susan) of Davenport; two daughters, Carolyn (Joel) Mikkelsen of Kearney, Neb., and Kris (Kevin) Sunken of Crete, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Gary.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery, Reinbeck. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Reinbeck American Legion Post. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
