WATERLOO - Teresa M. Patten Nosko, 49, of Des Moines, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.

She was born Jan. 21, 1960, in Waterloo, daughter of Leonard A. and Nola M. Hammons Patten. She married Mark Nosko, and they later divorced.

Ms. Nosko was studying to become a drug and alcohol abuse counselor.

Survived by two sons, Shawn (Joni Durnan) of Manchester and Chad (Sarah) of Quasqueton; 10 grandchildren, Dakota, Korey, Skylar, Sadie, Cassie, Mason, Marshall, Hailey, Madison and Abby; her parents of Readlyn; two sisters, Debbie (Kevin) Kinley of Monona and Angie Hamilton of Cedar Falls; a brother, Lanny Patten of Winthrop; and nine nieces and nephews, Carrie, Matthew, Kelly, Joe, Tiffany, Amber, Nicole, Brittany and Blake.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Clara and Donald Patten and Cora and Nolan Hammons; and a cousin, Rosanne Hammons.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Teresa was a free-spirited woman who enjoyed people and loved being outdoors. She viewed her life as an adventure.
