LA PORTE CITY - Wilbur L. “Wes” West, 75, of rural La Porte City, died at home Monday, March 24, 2014.

He was born Jan. 16, 1939, at the family home in Waterloo, son of Edwin J. and Viola Christina Jensen West. He married Marcella Ann “Sally” Young on Sept. 14, 1963, at First Presbyterian Church, La Porte City.

Wes gradated from Waterloo West High School in 1957. He worked more than 44 years at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 2004 as an experimental tester at Product Engineering. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, La Porte City, where he was Sunday School superintendent. He later became a member of First Presbyterian Church, Jesup.

Survived by his wife.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Jesup, with burial at 3 p.m. in Bear Creek Cemetery, rural Brandon. Flag folding will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
