WATERLOO - Mary Nesvik, 87, of Friendship Village Retirement Center, died there Thursday, March 20, 2014.

She was born May 25, 1926, in Pleasant Ridge, daughter of Henry John Sr. and Elizabeth C. Henry Kleinow. She marriage Richard Nesvik on April 23, 1949, in McGregor; he died Feb. 24, 1994.

Mary graduated from McGregor High School in 1945 and had worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years as a clerk in facilities, retiring in 1980. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survived by two sisters, Harriett Calkins of Davenport and Geraldine Edwards of Northwood; and two brothers, Henry (Betty) Kleinow of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Raymon (Ruth) Kleinow of Monticello.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pauline Westphal; three brothers-in-law, George Calkins, Clifford Westphal and Marlyn Edwards; and a sister-in-law, Pat Kleinow.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo First United Methodist Church, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Friendship Village or Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
