WATERLOO — Kay E. Manross, 69, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., died Friday, March 14, 2014, from brain cancer at Catawba Regional Hospice House in Newton, N.C.

She was born Oct. 28, 1944, in Waterloo, daughter of Sidney and Maxine Stetzel. She married Bob Manross on June 3, 1967, at Westminister Presbyterian Church, Waterloo.

Kay graduated from West High School. She worked for Chamberlains in Waterloo and Cargill near Minneapolis, and also was a homemaker.

Survived by her husband of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; a son, Michael Manross of Indianapolis, Ind.; and a sister, Elaine Chernoff of Agoura Hills, Calif.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Anne Marsella.

Memorial Service: to be held April 19 at their home in North Carolina.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catawba Regional Hospice or CaringBridge.

Kay battled brain cancer courageously since April 2013, and passed away peacefully in her sleep. She lived life with elegance and touched many people as a caring and sassy friend, a steadfast wife and a loving mother. She was the glue that kept the family functioning at its best.
