WATERLOO – Charles E. May, 71, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Shenandoah, son of Ellis and Blanche Wolf May. He married Alana Duffer on Feb. 20, 1972, in Omaha, Neb.

Charles was employed with Viking Pump in Cedar Falls for 29 years, retiring in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survived by his wife; a son, Michael J. (Mari) May of Washburn; a brother, Kenneth May of New Mexico; and five sisters, Arlene (Lloyd) Young of North Carolina, Ida Reding of Arkansas, Marcella Tomei of Arizona, Viola Gray of Bangor and Ethel Hummel of Shenandoah.

Preceded in death by a brother, William May; and three sisters, Virginia Zwiers, Marian Woolsey and Carolyn Ingram.

A memorial service may be held at a later date. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service assisted the family.
