WATERLOO - Dorothy Virginia Barmer, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center of heart failure.

She was born May 24, 1913, in Chicago, daughter of Edward and Dora Langworth Jahn. She married Olin L. Barmer on Nov. 10, 1934, in Chicago.

Mrs. Barmer was employed by Jane's Flowers and Gifts for 30 years.

Survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Mullenix of Waterloo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Harder of Tolono, Ill., and Carol Hornbrook of Tarpon Springs, Fla.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Judith "Judy" Murphy; and two sisters, Naomi Thomas and Lois Dubransky.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Community Church.
