WATERLOO - Ernest Fred Nicholas, 78, of Jensen Beach, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at St. Lucie Medical Center, St. Lucie, Fla., of natural causes.

He was born May 11, 1923, in Waterloo, son of Fred and Magdalena Albert Nicholas. He retired as a well driller. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survived by three brothers, Fred of Maggie Valley, N.C., James of Cedar Falls and George of Waterloo; and a sister, Marion Weires of Ocala, Fla.

Graveside service were Thursday at All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach. Aycock Funeral Home, Jensen Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
