Morey J. Thompson, a resident of Pensacola, Fla., for the last 10 years, passed away suddenly Dec. 7, 2004, in Pensacola.

He was born Sept. 14, 1940, in Waterloo. He attended Lowell, Sloane Wallace and graduated from West High in 1959. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent four years in various locations, with his tour ending in Germany. After his duty he returned home to Waterloo and enrolled in classes at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. During this same period he joined Chamberlain Manufacturing Corp.

In 1964 he married Nancy Schaefer, also of Waterloo. His hard work earned him a promotion as plant manager in one of Chamberlains northeast facilities. His career took him to mechanical engineering positions in Massachusetts, Kansas, Ohio, Mississippi and Florida.

Morey was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Olive Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy; daughter, Steffanie and son-in-law Tony Mitchell of Picayune, Miss., and their children, Tonya and Christopher; daughter, Ashley Thompson of Pensacola; and a brother, Gary Thompson, and wife Liz of Dallas, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society in memory of Morey.
