WATERLOO - Norbert L. Armstrong, 62, of 233 Gayle St., died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Allen Hospital of lung cancer.

He was born June 15, 1939, in Cresco, son of Bert and Agnes Hanlon Armstrong. He married Joyce E. Hanson on May 23, 1964, in Waterloo.

Mr. Armstrong was employed in production at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Cuban Crisis and served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Kerry, Rory and Rick, all of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 17 foster children; two sisters, Sandra Armstrong and Vickie Robbins, both of Waterloo; and five brothers, Paul, Wayne and Ronnie, all of Waterloo, Troy of Harpers Ferry, and Rock of Eldorado Hills, Calif.

Preceded in death by an infant sister, Rose Maria Armstrong.

Services: were 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church or the family.
