WATERLOO - Oliver "Ollie" Hippen was born March 5, 1933 in Stout, Iowa, the son of Adolph and HilkaLena (Stickfort) Hippen. He was in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Craft Controller and Warning Operator during the Korean War. He married Mary Neuman on October 3, 1954, they later divorced. He married Betty Dart June 20, 1998, she preceded him in death on October 6, 2004. Oliver was employed at Rath's for over 30 years. He then was employed at the National Guard Armory as a Security Guard. Oliver was a huge Chicago sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he attended all sporting events for his children.

Oliver passed away Monday, December 6, 2004, of natural causes at the age of 71 at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty; one son, Daniel and one daughter, Nancy, both in infancy; four brothers, Adolph, Harm, Harvey and Jerry; a sister, Lena Lambert and a son-in-law, Ricky Casillas.

Oliver is survived by a daughter, Pam Casillas of Littleton, Iowa; three grandchildren, Riki Casillas of Mertle Beach, S.C., Nickolas Casillas and Justin Casillas, both of Littleton, Iowa; a brother Raymond (Marge) Hippen of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Gertrude (Don) Mitchell of Traer, Iowa, and Jeanette (Art) Brown of Tuscon, Ariz.; a stepson, Robert (Linda) Dart Jr. of Waterloo, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Debra (Bert) Recla of Cabot, Ark., Beckie (Kevin) Ryan of Lakeville, Minn., and Tammy Grittmann of Ankeny, Iowa; nine stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, LaVae Hippen of Waterloo, Iowa.

Oliver will be missed by all who knew him.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Open Bible, with burial in Garden of Memories. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
