CEDAR FALLS -- Bertha A. Workman, 93, of Mason City, formerly of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, died at home Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

She was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of Albert and Marie Marx. She married Joseph Workman on Dec. 31, 1941, in Lancaster, Mo.

Bertha graduated from Waterloo East High School and had worked at Woolworth 5 & 10 and then at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works during World War II. After marriage she was a full-time homemaker.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Diane De Hart Monroe of Mason City; three grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth, Gertrude and Elsie; a brother, Harry; and a son, Jim.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, and also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
