WATERLOO - Mary A. DeVoogd, 66, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008.

She was born April 12, 1942, in Benton County, daughter of Jake and Mary Hay Henkle. She married Jake DeVoogd on Aug. 3, 1982, in Cedar Falls.

Mrs. DeVoogd had been employed in various nursing homes in the Cedar Falls-Waterloo area, most recently with Country View.

Survived by her husband; four daughters, Melissa Duryee of La Porte City, Deb (Mike) Elliott of Sumner, Cindy (Randy) Pries of Readlyn and Barb (Dennis) Mobb of Bemidji, Minn.; three sons, David (Jorine) Shields, Tim Schields of Boise, Idaho, and Jerry Schields; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances (Ralph Huffman) Van Gorder of Evansdale, Zelda (Paul) Dinnebier and Evelyn Gautney, both of Waterloo; and four brothers, Albert (Tomiko), Charles (Margaret) and Richard (Connie) Henkle, all of Waterloo, and Edward (Barbara) Henkle of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by a son, Mark Duryee; and a brother, Ivan Henkle.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil and a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services on Saturday at the church.
