WATERLOO - Ellen A. Bamsey, 93, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at the care center.

She was born April 5, 1915, in LeRoy, Minn., daughter of Jens and Carrie Hauge Pines, and was the stepdaughter of Ed Pines. She married Louis A. Bamsey on July 20, 1941, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 18, 1973.

Mrs. Bamsey was employed in the office of Waterloo Laundry and later worked as a volunteer at Edison School. She was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She directed the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs for many years and prepared countless meals in the church kitchen.

Survived by a daughter, Carol (Jerry) Carinci of St. Louis; a son, Robert (Nancy) of Waterloo; and two grandsons, Ben Bamsey of Monterey, Calif., and Matt Bamsey of Louisville, Ky.

Preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Hauge; and a sister, Esther Howard.

Private family memorial services: will take place with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Ellen participated in many church activities devoted to meeting the needs of others.
