Dead at 65

Dr. Wesley H. Acker, 65, of 183 Lovejoy Ave. died at 2 p.m. Sunday at his home. Death was caused by a heart ailment.

He was born June 29, 1891, at Atlantic, Ia., the son of William and Emma Bilger Acker. The family moved to Colorado during his early childhood. He married Gertrude McFarlane in Chicago on June 11, 1919.

Dr. Acker attended Colorado College at Colorado Springs, Colo., and graduated from the University of Chicago and Rush Medical College in Chicago.

Following his internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago he joined the medical department of the U. S. Steel Corp. He came to Waterloo in 1919 as chief of the medical staff at John Deere Tractor Works, and held that position until his death.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Robert M. of 310 Ivanhoe Rd., and Dr. Richard E., 320 Columbia Circle; one daughter, Betty, two brothers, C. R. Canoga Park, Calif.; and R. S. Denver, Colo.; three sisters: Mrs. Claude Cary, Extancia, N. M., Mrs. William Myers, Escondido, Calif., and Mrs. William Leonard, Mesa, Ariz., and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

The body is at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been tentatively made for Wednesday afternoon.

Dr. Wesley H. Acker

Funeral services for Dr. Weslty H. Acker, 65, 183 Lovejoy Ave., who died Sunday at his home, will be Wednessday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church.

Dr. Fred Miller, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will be taken from the O'Keefe & Towne funeral Home to the church at 12 noon.
