HUDSON - Lyle Dewey Taylor was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Tama County, son of Dewey and Loraine (Burrows) Taylor.

He was a graduate of Geneseo High School in 1952, and attended LaJunta Junior College. He married Marge Conn in Louisville, Ky., on Dec. 29, 1955. He served in the Army Reserves for two years. He went to work at Rath Packing Co. in 1954 and became an active member of the UFCW Local 46, serving on many committees, and then as Union president beginning in 1966. He also served as president of Rath Packing Co., developing the employee owner corporation in 1979 until Rath closed in 1985. He developed and served on the board for Black Hawk Economic Development and served as president. Lyle enjoyed working with his dad on the family farm for many years. Lyle was a member of the Cedar Heights Baptist Church, involved in many ministries with a special heart for missionaries.

Lyle was known for helping family and friends any way he could.

Lyle passed away on March 10, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Loraine; a brother, Dee Taylor; and a sister, Virginia Riggins.

He is survived by his wife, Marge; four daughters, Lylette (Dan) Reising, Robin (Dave) Peters, Carla (Jeff) Witt and Pennie (Kirk) Lundberg; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Mary) Taylor; and Merlin (Lois) Taylor; one sister, Karen Ulmanis; a sister-in-law, Flora Taylor; and a brother-in-law, Keith Riggins.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
