WATERLOO - Mildred M. "Blondie" Schaefer, 86, formerly of Raymond, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Stacyville, daughter of Ben and Mary Wingert Adams. She married Henry Charles Schaefer on Oct. 28, 1944, in Stacyville. He died July 2, 2001.

She was employed as a waitress at the Washburn Tavern for 20 years.

Survived by four sons, James (Kathy) of Traer, Michael (Janet) and Bernard (Jeanne), both of Raymond, and John (Cheryl) of Washburn; three daughters, Donna (Dennis) Kohls of Evansdale, Theresa (Mike) Pett of Waterloo and Mary (Mitch) Johannsen of West Union; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Vera) Adams of Stacyville; and a sister, Sylvia Meyer of Stacyville.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Debbie Schaefer; two brothers, Chuck and Jerome; and a sister, Virginia Weber.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, both in Raymond. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
