WATERLOO - Elvira M. Tierney, 82, of the Western Home Communities, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Western Home, Martin Center.

She was born July 16, 1926, in Festina, daughter of John and Cecelia Schneberger Tieskotter. She married Joseph Tierney on Nov. 15, 1952, in Waterloo. He died Aug. 27, 1973.

She was employed with Rath Packing Company for 33 years, retiring in 1977.

Survived by two daughters, Cleo (Steven) Ericksen of Dike and Mary (James) Farley of Arvada, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Emily (Joshua) Fuller, Annie (Warren) Lucas, Abbie (Chad) Cutsforth, Edward (Hayley Hahn) Ericksen, Michael (Kristine) Farley, Steven (Lori) Farley and John Farley; 13 great-grandchildren, Cade, Dane and Silvey Fuller; Leif and Eva Lucas; Emersen Cutsforth; Alyssa and Morgan Farley; McKenna Farley; Brenna, Casey, Tiegan and Jamie Farley; a sister, Marion (Juel) Knutson of New Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Adella Tieskotter of New Hampton and Bernadine Tieskotter of Lawler; and a brother-in-law, John Meissen of Lawler.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadette (Andrew) Kruse and Leone Meissen; and three brothers, Wilfred Tieskotter, Andrew Tieskotter and Roman (Regina) Tieskotter.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. Queen of Peace Legion of Mary rosary. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
