READLYN - Waldo Wilhelm Friedrich Knief, 88, of Readlyn, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.

He was born June 17, 1917, on a farm in Franklin Township, rural Readlyn, son of Louis Henry and Eda Marie Poock Knief. On May 30, 1940, he married Margaret Ann Kimball at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Readlyn.

Mr. Knief and his wife farmed near Dunkerton for 50 years, retiring in 1988. He continued helping farmers in the Dunkerton and Readlyn area.

Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Rose (Tom) Magee of Clifton, Colo., and LaVonne (James) Koch of West Union; a son, Loren (Sandra) of Denver; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Sells of Frederika.

Preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn.

Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Klinger, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community or to Alzheimer's Foundation.
