Mathias Delagardelle, age 76, one of Black Hawk County's pioneers, died at 6 a.m. today following a short illness at his home in Gilbertville.

He is survived by the following children: Nick and Peter, Waterloo; John and Michael, Gilbertville; Mrs. Lena Webber, Raymond and Mrs. Mary Karteback, Jesup.

Funeral arrangements will be made later.
