CEDAR FALLS - Theodore D. “Ted” Goecke, 67, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014.

He was born Jan. 21, 1947, in Marshalltown, son of Henry and Bernice Cooper Goecke. He married Julie Bahr on June 13, 1970, in Rochester, Minn.

Ted graduated from Durant High School, Muscatine Community College and the University of Northern Iowa. Following graduation from UNI, he served in the National Guard for six years. He held numerous jobs in the Cedar Valley, retiring in 2010 from Cedar Falls Utilities after 21 years as a CAD draftsman. He served as past president of the Cedar Falls Exchange Club.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Alicia Goecke of Cedar Falls and Erin Goecke of Waterloo; two brothers, his twin, Tom (Sharon) of Roseburg, Ore., and Bill (Sharon) of Standish, Mich.; a granddaughter, Adelynne Lyons of Waterloo; and other family members.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls.

Memorials: may be directed to the UNI Women’s Softball Team or the Central Iowa Alzheimer’s Association.

Ted was an avid Panther fan. He joined the Panther Scholarship Club in the early 1970’s when it was known as the Century Club. He was involved in fundraising and volunteering with athletic events prior to the onset of health problems.
