ELK RUN HEIGHTS - Joseph A. “Coco” “Little Joe” Blanch, 83, of Elk Run Heights, died at home Sunday, March 2, 2014.

He was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Puerto Rico, son of Jamie and Luz Terrones Blanch. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Waterloo. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and retired from Mike Klein Construction in 1992.

Survived by a brother, Doroteo “Tito” Martinez of Perry; two sisters, Gloria (Warren) Woods of Hudson and Anita (Richard) Schmit of Elk Run Heights; a special niece, Kelly Turner of Cedar Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Tyler; and a brother, Jamie Blanch.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, with military rites conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623, and the Iowa National Guard Honors Detail. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
