CEDAR FALLS - Gerald L. "Jerry” Ostrander, 87, of Ottumwa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at The Good Samaritan Society, Ottumwa.

He was born July 20, 1926, in Cedar Falls, son of William and Iva Miller Ostrander. He married Rose Marie Lievrouw on Dec. 2, 1951.

A graduate of Waterloo East High School, Jerry was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan. He worked for 31 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring as supervisor of Product Engineering Services in 1982.

Survived by his wife; five daughters, Jo Ellen Rodgers of Spring Hills, Kan., Carol Ostrander of Algonquin, Ill., Barb Schroder of Palo Alto, Calif., Linda Ostrander of Ottumwa and Liz Mayer of Altoona; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home, with burial in Shaul Cemetery, both in Ottumwa. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with family present 5 to 7 p.m.
