WATERLOO - Agnes E. Nelson, 91, of 514 Columbia Circle, Agnes' Garden House, formerly of 111 Sutton, Elk Run Heights, died Saturday, April 23, 2005. at ManorCare Health Services of natural causes.

She was born April 24, 1914, in Dubuque, daughter of Michael and Katherine McCafferey Maher. She married Joseph Nelson on July 5, 1930. He died July 27, 1970.

Mrs. Nelson graduated from St. Marys Catholic High School. She was a supervisor at Hinson Manufacturing for 36 years, retiring in 1971. She also was a member of the Waterloo Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 764 and attended Queen of Peace Catholic Parish.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Stanford of Waterloo; two sons, Vern (Donna) of Waterloo and Kenneth (Jane) of Laredo, Texas, and Waterloo; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Catherine Whitesell of California and Della (Richard) Koutnik of Woodburn, Ore.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ray Stanford; three brothers, Courtland Maher in infancy, and Alvin and Melvin Maher; and six sisters, Madonna Maher in infancy, Carmelita Ritter, Sarah Marcussen, Geneva Baker, Matilda Taylor and Dorothy Neidert.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Parish, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with a 6:30 p.m. memorial service by Eagle Ladies Auxiliary No. 764.

Memorials may be made to Waterloo Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 764.
