CEDAR FALLS - Nellie E. Chambers, 97, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of pneumonia.

She was born Aug. 28, 1908, near Belle Plaine, Kan., daughter of I. E. and May Belle Hamilton Meeker. She married Berlin "Mugs" Chambers on Aug. 4, 1925, in Wellington, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1991.

She was a homemaker and seamstress.

Survived by a son, Gary (Carolyn) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Eileen (Rick) Fellows of Wren, Miss.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Pearle) Meeker of Springfield, Mo.; and a sister, Katherine Conaway of Anderson, S.C.

Preceded in death by a daughter and son in infancy; two brothers, Harry and Glen Meeker; and a sister, Vona Wilson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Tonkawa, Okla. Public visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
