CEDAR FALLS — Frederick Samuel Shields, 89, of Rt. 3, died at Sartori Memorial Hospital yesterday morning of complications incident to advanced age.

He was born March 23, 1884, in Cedar Falls, son of Samuel and Orrilla Thomas Shields. For many years he worked for local railroad companies in construction. Mr. Shields was a member of the Equity Lodge No. 131 of Janesville.

He has no immediate survivors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and five sisters.

Private committal services will be at the Washington Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Marshall Hinds, pastor of the Little Brown Church of Nashua, officiating.

There will be no viewing of the body. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
