CEDAR FALLS - Funeral services for Ryan Michael Meyers, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs, Richard Meyers, 96 Army St., Sunset Village, will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home, Waterloo. The Rev. A. A. Sodawasser and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Duane Brady will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The child was killed shortly after noon Friday when he slipped under the wheels of a truck, while playing on a street in front of the Married Students housing unit in Sunset Village.

His parents attend the University of Northern Iowa.

Ryan Michael Meyers was born April 16, 1969, in Waterloo, the son of Richard and Catherine Ryan Meyers. He was baptized in St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Surviving are his parents; one brother, Christopher; his paternal grandmother, Mrs Harold Mettner of 742 Grant Ave. Waterloo; the paternal grandfather, Joseph Meyers of Denver, Colo.: the paternal great-grandmother. Mrs. Olivia Morey of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by one brother and by his maternal grandparents.

Police said the child was playing with a group of children in the street. Timothy James Caswell, a 22-year-old University of Northern Iowa student from rural Nashua, was making fuel oil deliveries in the area. According to a police account of the incident,

Caswell checked to see if there were any children behind the tank truck before he began backing it. The Meyers boy, police said, apparently escaped his notice. Caswell's truck backed over the youth without Caswell even knowing it. police said. Richard Meyers, his father, discovered the boy tow or three minutes later, a patrolman said.

The Meyers boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Sartori Hospital of a skull fracture.
