SHORTER, CHORPENING

George Grant Shorter, 27, died at 7 a m. Saturday at his home, Virginia Street and Burton Avenue, of abscess of the liver. He had been ill since last February, and had been bedfast, since Oct. 12.

Mr. Shorter was born Nov. 4, 1905, at New Hartford, Iowa., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ernest Shorter. He had been an automobile mechanic and repairman for a number of years, in recent years conducting a shop at his home.

He married Miss Wilma Chorpening Oct. 31, 1928. at Iowa City.

Surviving besides his widow are his mother, Mrs. Jessie Mae Shorter, Virginia Street and Burton Avenue; a brother, Floyd Shorter, 415 Hartman Avenue, and two half-sisters, Violet and Viola Shorter, Virginia Street and Burton Avenue.

The body was taken to the Kistner Funeral Home.
