Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Kearns-Dykeman Chapel for Mrs. Nellie E. Brooks, 83, of 1007 Park Rd. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Brooks died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Memorial Hospital of a heart attack.

She was born in Jo Daviess County, Ill., on April 19, 1884, the daughter of Chris and Martha Ilgen Zipse. On Sept. 1, 1903, she was married to Ernest Brooks at Lawler. Since 1911 she lived in Waterloo with the exception of 20 years when she lived at Allison.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of Graves EUB Church, Order of Eastern Star, Allison Chapter and Kings Daughters, Jubilee Chapter. She had recently attended Grace Methodist Church and was a member of the WSCS, Mary Circle, and Senior Citizens.

Surviving are four sons: Clyde of 112 Moir St., Clark of 505 2nd Ave., Washburn, Clarence of 1127 Newton St., and Calvin of Milford, O.; three daughters: Mrs. Goldie Smith, Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Sylvia Lewis, 1007 Park Rd., and Mrs. Fayth Kalkwarf,* Champaign, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and one brother, George Zipse, Lawler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1947, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday al Kearns-Dykeman Chapel for Mrs. Nellie E. Brooks, 83, of 1007 Park Rd., who died Tuesday evening at Allen Memorial Hospital. Dr. C. H. Pettersen, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, will officiate and be assisted by Rev. John H. McFarland, pastor of Graves EUB Church. Burial will be in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until shortly before the service when the casket will be closed for during and following the service. A family prayer service will be conducted at Kearns-Dykeman at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
