Eli Cameron, 97, of 1357 Sycamore St., died at 3 p.m. Tuesday in St. Francis hospital of a broken hip and complications of his advanced age.

He was born April 11, 1857, to Thomas and Eliza Cameron on a farm near Otterville in Buchanan county. Mr. Cameron married Amelia C. Saunder February 23, 1881. The Camerons moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where they were in business until 1883 when the Camerons moved to Otterville, farming there until 1902.

In that year they moved to Waterloo where Mr. Cameron was employed by the city. A member of the Otterville Presbyterian church, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ada Smith, who resides at the family home, and two sons, Arch E. and Clifford A., both farmers in Buchanan county.

His wife and one daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday in the Swan Funeral Home at Independence, Iowa, with the Rev. H. E. Dierenfield, pastor of the Waterloo First Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Otterville cemetery.
