Mrs. Samuel B. Marquart, 59, of 430 Oliver St., died at 1:57 p. m. Tuesday in Allen Memorial hospital of carcinoma of the lungs.
She had been a patient there since Friday after three weeks' illness at Rochester, Minn.
She was born Elsie Mary Westphal, March 25, 1895, in Mt. Vernon township, the daughter of Julius and Louisa Seliger Westphal. She married Samuel B. Marquart in Waterloo, Feb. 15, 1918, and the couple lived on a farm seven miles north of here until 1944 when they moved to Waterloo.
Survivors include her husband.five sons: George J. Marquart, 423 Oliver St.; Robert W., 411 Carolina Ave.; Clayton E., 1123 N. Barclay; Clark M., 1125 N. Barclay, and Jordon L., 430 Oliver St. Other survivors are her mother, one brother, Max Westphal, Cedar Falls; one sister, Mrs. Clyde Huntley, 437 Gable St., and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Marquart's father preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at Calvary Evangelical United Brethren church with the Rev. J. A. Haehlen officiating. Burial will be in the Midwest Garden of Memories cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel of Memories.
