CEDAR FALLS - Donald R. Gibson, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Akron, Ohio, son of Harry M. and Hazel Richey Gibson. He married Bernice E. Weese on Dec. 26, 1948, in Akron, Ohio.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Donald was an ordained Presbyterian minister and served churches in Dayton and Zanesville, Ohio, Neenah, Wis., and Rock Island, Ill., retiring in 1990.

Survived by his wife; a son, Donald R. Jr. (Cindy) of Evergreen, Colo.; two daughters, Kathryn S. Duke (David Beaty) of Cedar Falls and Margaret E. (Phillip) Mann of Chesapeake, Va.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with entombment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
