WATERLOO - Robert L. Francis, 88, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of lung cancer.

He was born May 6, 1925, in Mercer County, Mo., son of Willis and Ethlyn Wood Francis. He married Mary Louise Meinecke on May 18, 1945, in Troy, Kan.

Mr. Francis graduated from Cainsville High School, Cainsville, Mo., and was a self-employed long-haul truck driver for many years, retiring in 1995.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Dave (Connie) of Cedar Falls and Denny (Sandy) of Evansdale; a daughter, Jean (Dave) Kozloski of Fairbanks, Alaska; a son-in-law, John Simpson of O’Fallon, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, DeeAnn Francis of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dean of Princeton, Mo.; and a sister, Louise Frisbie of Cainsville, Mo.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dale; a daughter, Janet Simpson; two brothers, George and Leonard; and a sister, Anna Lois Francis.

A family-directed Celebration of Life: 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Junie’s Restaurant at the Elk Run Truck Plaza. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel is assisting the family.
