Mark Daniel Kubik, 19, of Clutier, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, after a sudden illness.

He was born March 26, 1986, in Waterloo, son of Daniel J. and Patricia Winn Kubik. He attended school at St. Patricks Catholic School in Cedar Falls before entering the North Tama Schools in Traer, graduating with the class of 2004.

Mark was actively involved with All-State speech, band and chorus and participated in many drama productions. He also played on the baseball team and for 11 years he excelled in competitive tumbling at the national level. Mark briefly continued his education at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City and most recently made his home in rural Clutier with his parents.

Survived by his parents, Daniel and Patricia of rural Clutier; a brother, David of rural Clutier; and a sister, Gina Kubik of rural Clutier.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerome and Mildred Winn of Sioux City and Leonard and Minnie Kubik of Traer.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Traer, with burial in St. Wenceslas Cemetery, rural Clutier. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
